“The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the beginning of a happier life for ourselves.” — Helen Keller
The holiday season is filled with family, friends, and community. Being a hospitality group, we have special place in our heart for generosity and service, especially to our surrounding community. This is why we love organizations like One80 Place!
Since its inception in 1984, One80 Place (then called Charleston Interfaith Crisis Assistance Ministry) has consistently strived to positively build up the Charleston community and its citizens. According to One80 Place’s website: “What began as a warm meal and a volunteer-staffed shelter has evolved into a comprehensive service agency dedicated to helping families and individuals end their homelessness and turn their lives around.”
One of the community based events that has been growing strong for the past 6 years is the Annual Turkey & a $20 drive! Participants are able to drive through & drop off turkeys & donations at One80 Place to provide food & supportive services to their guests. This year’s goal was $50,000 and 500 turkeys.
The branches of Holy City Hospitality answered the community’s call for assistance and participated in this year’s drive!
Michael’s on the Alley & Vincent Chicco’s Executive Chef Michael Greene was on-site dropping off turkeys and other donations with Manager Rachel Descault.
We take the same genuine approach towards our community as we do to our guests.
We spotted South Carolina Stingrays’ mascot ‘Cool Ray’ hanging out with some cool kids from the Holy City Hospitality Main Office during yesterday’s round-up!
Holy City Hospitality Manager, Brett Handegan, got in on the “donation action” too!
Executive Chef Tripp Inabinett and Manager Brianna Willan were present and representing Virginia’s on King.
The 6th Annual Turkey and a $20 was a success. The grand total: $54,884 and 405 turkeys! We can’t wait to help out in next year’s drive!
Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
