Curious about the construction in the alley behind seafood spot Coast Bar & Grill, Eater went exploring. The view from a side door revealed an empty room with a large wooden bar. Other openings exposed several expansive spaces and a grand staircase. A member of the construction crew confirmed it would be a restaurant/bar but didn’t have further details.
A quick search of the Board of Architectural Review results outed the owner of the property as Chicco Associates. According to a Summons and Complaint filed in January, Chicco Associates operate Coast Bar & Grill. Coast is also listed under the Holy City Hospitality group, who additionally claim French bistro 39 Rue de Jean and country kitchen Virginia’s. Should Charleston expect another restaurant akin to these? If you have any clues, hit up the tipline.
[Update]: A tipster tells Eater that a maintenance man clued them in to the space becoming an Italian restaurant with several bars and a separate dining area on the top level.
