Michael was born and raised in Whitman, Massachusetts. There he entered the food and beverage industry at a young age and is now in his 26th year in the business.
Michael moved to Orlando, Florida and crafted his skill for service, working in several restaurants that ran the gambit of the culinary world.
With a budding passion for wine, Michael took the next step into wholesale wine sales with a territory that ran throughout Central and North Florida
Michael’s next step within the industry brought him to retail sales of wine, beer and spirits. Michael ran the operations for two locations in North Providence, Rhode Island and Fairhaven, Massachusetts.
During this tenure, Michael completed a course of study and was awarded certification by The Wine and Spirits Education Trust or (W.S.E.T.)
Michael finally landed in Charleston in 2005 and is here to stay. Within a month of arriving in Charleston, he joined the staff at 39 Rue de Jean and was promoted to General Manager of Coast Bar and Grill in 2009.
Additionally, he accepted the role of Wine and Spirits Director for Holy City Hospitality in 2010.
Most recently, Michael has sat before the Court of Master Sommeliers and passed both the introductory examination as well as the certified examination and is now a Certified Sommelier.
In the fall of 2000, Michael married his lifelong friend Sara. Together they enjoy raising their two young children and discovering all of the unique treasures that living in the Lowcountry provides.
