John was born in Charlotte, NC but spent most of his adolescent life in Winston Salem, NC. Growing up he was always interested in trying new kinds of foods and wanted to learn how to cook. Throughout high school he held several jobs in the restaurant industry and decided once he graduated he would pursue his culinary interests.
In 1999, John moved to Raleigh, NC where he worked at Simpson’s Beef and Seafood for one year before deciding to study the culinary arts. John attended Le Cordon Bleu in Paris (2000) and London (2003) where he completed his Diplôme de Cuisine. He also graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Australia with a Bachelor Degree in Restaurant Management in 2002.
Upon completion of school in 2003, he returned to Winston Salem where he became the General Manager of Jimmy’s Seafood and Oyster Bar. In 2006, John joined the management team of 39 Rue de Jean and has been the General Manager since 2007. When not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife and family.Download PDF
